The Omni Group OmniGraffle is an OS X application used to create various types of graphics such as family trees, electrical system designs, and website wireframes. The application is also available for iOS for on-the-go users.
OmniGraffle provides a variety of design tools that include stencils, inspectors, shapes, and objects. The application also comes with templates from various categories, such as imperial units, metric units, software design, and space planning, that give you a head start on your designs. OmniGraffle features several proprietary formats for saving content. The GRAFFLE file is used to store your drawing, GTEMPLATE is used to store templates, GDIAGRAMSTYLE is used to store diagram styles, and GSTENCIL is used to store stencils. You can export your drawing to the BMP, EPS, GIF, JPEG, PNG, SVG, TIFF, PSD, and VDX formats. Also, OmniGraffle is backwards compatible, allowing you to import resources from previous versions of the software.
The interface is clean, easy to navigate, and customizable. You can arrange inspectors as a sidebar, a floating window, or individual palettes. If you are new to the program or are just stuck on a feature, OmniGraffle provides online help, which includes manuals and video tutorials.
The app is designed primarily for creating diagram-related graphics and users are commonly artists, designers, or data-mappers. The application comes with a variety of design tools and templates that allow you to create professional looking diagrams. The Omni Group OmniGraffle is a little pricey but still a great choice for creating professional-looking diagrams.
