Software Overview

Parchment is a web based interpreter for interactive fiction games. Interactive fiction consists of text stories that the reader can navigate and explore by typing commands.

Parchment supports Z-Code and Glulx interactive fiction game formats. The program gives you an avenue to distribute and share your own stories. You can use software like Inform to create a Z-Code file and upload it to to Parchment for other users to experience. You can also customize how you want the typography to appear in your story by specifying a CSS style sheet.

Parchment gives fans of interactive fiction games an option to play their stories online instead of downloading a program and installing it on their computers. The web program supports the Glulx and Z-Code formats and provides a straightforward user interface. However, Parchment does not come with a ton features or support for many formats. If you want a platform to more easily share your stories, Parchment is a viable solution, otherwise, download and install Spatterlight or Windows Frotz if you want more features and support for more formats.
