IMSI DesignCAD is a CAD program used for drafting 2D designs. The application comes with a variety of tools for creating architectural drawings, engineering layouts, mechanical parts, landscaping designs, and other CAD-related elements.
DesignCAD supports DCD and DC drawing files along with DWG, DXF, WMF, HPGL, XYZ, JPG, BMP, TIF, TGA, PNG, GIF, and PCX files. You can also export your designs to several different file formats including DWG, DXF, RIB, WPG, WMF, HPGL, PDF, and SKP. DesignCAD provides hundreds of tools to draw and edit your design. You can draw lines, arcs, circles, and planes, set dimension angles and coordinates, and manipulate text.
In addition to its many tools, DesignCAD features layers that can be turned on and off to allow you to view specific elements of your drawing. You can also lock these layers so you don't perform any unintended edits on them. Smart menus are another helpful feature provided by DesignCAD that allow you to reduce menu clutter on your screen and add the tools you work with most.
DesignCAD is used in various occupations including architects, engineers, contractors, illustrators, as well as teachers, students, and hobbyists. The application comes with a large amount of drawing and editing tools, layer management functionality, and geometric construction capabilities. It is not as easy-to-use as it is advertised but if you are on a tight budget and willing to learn IMSI DesignCAD is a good option for creating architectural drawings and engineering layouts.
