Software Overview

Adobe Acrobat Reader is a free program that allows users to view, search, sign, annotate, and print PDF documents. The application cannot create or edit PDFs like Adobe Acrobat DC, which is the commercial version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Acrobat Reader is primarily used to view PDF files but also comes with several helpful tools for working with PDF files. For example, you can annotate documents by adding or highlighting text, drawing shapes, and adding sticky notes or stamps. You can also sign documents by typing or drawing, measure the distance and area of objects in documents, and share documents to be viewed or reviewed by other users. Acrobat Reader also allows you to conveniently add tools not included in the software directly from the Tools window in the program.

When creating a PDF document, you can set permissions for other users accessing the document, including printing, content copying, page extraction, commenting, filling form fields, and signing. You can also protect a sensitive PDF document with a password a user must enter to view the document.
