A ZAR file is an archive used by the PlayStation 2 entries in the SOCOM video game series. It contains audio files used in the game, including the game's soundtrack. SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs, SOCOM II, and SOCOM 3 all use ZAR archives.

SOCOM is a series of third-person shooter video games published for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Portable. The first three entries in the SOCOM series, released for the PlayStation 2, stored their audio files, including game sounds and music files, in ZAR archives.
Most players will never encounter a ZAR file. However, modders and other gaming enthusiasts sometimes extract ZAR files from SOCOM games, so they can extract, modify, and repackage their contents.
