FreeCommander.shc is a list of custom shortcuts created and used by FreeCommander, a Windows file manager. It contains a list of actions that can be performed in FreeCommander, paired with a list of shortcuts mapped to those actions. FreeCommander.shc is a plain text file, which you can open and edit in any text editor.

FreeCommander is a Windows File Explorer alternative that allows users to explore, manage, and view files. The program comes with a set of default keyboard shortcuts that allow users to quickly perform common actions, such as comparing, copying, and deleting files.

If a user wants to edit the shortcuts FreeCommander uses, they can do so by selecting Tools → Define keyboard shortcuts ... from the program's menu bar. This opens FreeCommander's Define keyboard shortcuts window. After a user assigns a new shortcut to a function and clicks Assign → OK, FreeCommander creates the FreeCommander.shc file. This file contains a list of all the user's custom FreeCommander shortcuts.

While you can open and edit FreeCommander.shc in any text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad (Windows) or Apple TextEdit (Mac), the best way to edit your FreeCommander shortcuts is using the program's Define keyboard shortcuts window. This will load any custom shortcuts saved in your SHC file and allow you to edit them.
