Wat is een K26-bestand?
A K26 file is a sound data file created by the Kurzweil K2600, a digital synthesizer and music workstation introduced in 1999. It stores one or more synthesizer objects, such as programs, setups, keymaps, samples, songs, or effects, that the K2600 uses to create and perform music. The format was primarily used during the late 1990s and 2000s by musicians, composers, and recording studios that relied on the K2600.

Users typically created K26 files when saving or backing up sound data to external storage devices, such as floppy disks, Zip disks, or SCSI drives. K26 files made it possible to transfer custom sounds, sequences, and other synthesizer data between compatible K2600 systems.
The K26 format is related to the .KRZ format used by the earlier Kurzweil K2000 but supports the additional capabilities introduced with the K2600. Although the K2600 is no longer in production, K26 files remain useful to owners of vintage Kurzweil synthesizers who continue to preserve, exchange, or restore classic sound libraries.
