In Windows Vista, they typically are stored in the following user subdirectory: "\AppData\Microsoft\Messenger\[LiveID]\ ObjectStore\CustomEmoticons".
DT2 files are used in combination with .ID2 files to enable the use of emoticons in Windows Live Messenger.
OPMERKING: Windows Live Messenger was discontinued in 2013 and has moved to Skype.
