A DAL file is a DVD authoring project created by MediaChance DVD-lab and DVD-lab PRO, which are programs used for designing and compiling DVDs. It stores project settings, media file references, menus, and other data needed to organize and format DVD content. While DAL files were popular during the peak of DVD use, the format is now uncommon since DVD media has declined.

Both amateur users who create personal DVDs and professionals producing commercial DVD products have used DAL files. These files are typically found in the project directory specified by the user during project setup.
Users created DAL files by selecting File → New Project in DVD-lab and then saving their progress as they work. Users would then burn the compiled project to a DVD once the project is complete.
