However, some modders continue to enjoy the challenge and nostalgia of using DEH-based mods, so some Doom modding programs still support DEH files. For example, the GZDoom modding platform allows players to import DEH files and save them as custom WAD files.

The easiest way to use a DEH file as a Doom mod is to save it as part of a custom WAD file. You can load a DEH file and save it as part of a WAD file in GZDoom (cross-platform) and SLADE (cross-platform). After you've created your custom WAD file, you can use GZDoom to apply the file to Doom.
