BUP 파일이란 무엇인가요?
A BUP file is a quarantined file created by McAfee anti-virus products. It saves a backup of a file that was moved from another location on the computer because a virus or other malware was detected.
추가 정보
BUP files are saved to the following directory in Windows Vista and Windows 7:
C:\ProgramData\McAfee\VirusScan\Quarantine\
The Quarantine directory on the local computer can become very large in size as more quarantined files are added. If you would like to remove the files manually, follow these steps:
- Go to Security Center → Navigation → General Settings and Alerts → Access Protection.
- Uncheck the "Use Access Protection" option.
- Delete the files from the Quarantine directory.
You can restore files from a quarantined file using the Quarantine Manager. However, there may be instances where the file was already deleted by the McAfee product. In this case, you can manually restore the files by following the steps in this McAfee knowledge base article:

추가 정보
IFO files contain headers that tell a DVD player (or other media player) what screen to load initially, when chapters start, and where a disc's video and audio data are located. Typically, discs also contain at least one BUP file, which contains a backup of the headers stored in the disc's VIDEO_TS.IFO file (a disc's primary IFO file).
How to replace an IFO file with a BUP file
To replace an IFO file with a BUP file:
- Note the IFO file's name.
- Delete the IFO file.
- Create a copy of your BUP file.
- Rename the copy to use the same filename (including the .ifo extension) as your deleted IFO file.
BUP 파일을 여는 방법
Typically, BUP files are not meant to be opened by users. However, you can open a BUP file with Microsoft Notepad, Apple TextEdit, or any other text editor, to view the disc information it contains.

A BUP file is a backup file created by one of various applications. Many apps automatically create BUP files to back up users' data. This allows the user to restore their data if the app crashes or their original file becomes corrupt.
추가 정보
For example, an animation program may automatically save a copy of a user's current animation project as a BUP file at regular intervals. This allows the user to restore their project from the backed-up state if needed.
In most cases, programs that create BUP files add the .bup extension to the file's normal extension, producing a compound extension like .ext.bup. To open these files, remove the .bup extension from their filenames, and then open them as you would normally.
BUP 파일을 여는 방법
You can open a BUP file with the program that created the file. Typically, you can open a BUP file by:
- Removing the .bup extension from its filename. For example, you would rename example.proj.bup to example.proj.
- Opening the renamed file as you would normally.
However, the exact instructions for opening BUP files vary from program to program. If you're having trouble opening your BUP file, refer to your program's backup documentation.
