A GOD package is an Xbox 360 video game saved in the console's compressed Games on Demand format. GOD packages are similar to .XEX files, except the data they contain is compressed, while the data XEX files contain is not. This makes GOD packages easier to share and store (because they have smaller file sizes), but harder for game modders to modify (because the files' data is obfuscated).

Games on Demand is an Xbox 360 feature that allows players to purchase games online and install them on their console. To make these games easier to download and store, they are saved in a compressed package format, often referred to as the Games on Demand or GOD format. Each GOD package is a directory that consists of several sub-directories, which contain compressed game data files.
The Xbox 360 stores GOD packages in game-specific subdirectories of its ~/content/000000000000 directory. While most Xbox 360 players will never need to access these directories or interact with their GOD packages, techies, modders, and other gaming enthusiasts may want to retrieve GOD packages from or add GOD packages to their Xbox 360. These enthusiasts may also want to convert existing Xbox 360 .ISO files to the GOD format, to more efficiently store and transfer the games those ISO files contain.

GOD packages are not meant to be opened. To use a GOD package with your Xbox 360, you must place it in your console's ~/content/000000000000 directory. Then, you'll be able to load the game your GOD package contains as you would any Games on Demand game (from your console's Games menu).
Alternatively, the Aurora custom Xbox 360 dashboard allows you to load GOD packages from any directory on your Xbox 360.
