Che cos'è un file MARKO?

A MARKO file contains source code written in the Marko programming language, a modern and efficient JavaScript-based framework. It stores code that defines user interface (UI) components and templates, combining HTML-like syntax with JavaScript functionality to build dynamic, interactive interfaces. Developers typically use MARKO files when building user interfaces and web applications.

Engineers at eBay developed the Marko language in the early 2010s to address the need for a fast, efficient, and scalable framework for building web applications with server-side rendering. eBay then donated the language to the OpenJS foundation, but eBay still maintains it.

Marko includes a component-based architecture for creating reusable and modular code. Additionally, the Marko compiler processes MARKO files to generate optimized code for both the client and server.

Come aprire un file MARKO

You can open MARKO files with various source code editors, including Marko (in a web browser) or Microsoft Visual Studio Code and Brackets.

Since Marko language is saved in plain text, you can also open and edit MARKO files with a basic text editor, such as Microsoft Notepad or Apple TextEdit. However, text editors do not come with helpful editing features included with source code editors.
