It stores the layout of a playable level, including note positions, timing data, and other information needed to synchronize gameplay with a song. Players use SSPM files to add custom maps and play levels created by other community members.

SSPM files store data about note timing, placement in the level, and other settings required for the map to function correctly. However, they do not include the song itself. Instead, the files reference a separate audio file, often in .MP3 or .OGG format, that the game plays during the level.

Community map editors are typically used to create SSPM files, and creators often distribute them along with the required audio file in a .ZIP archive.
