What is a ZHELP file?
A ZHELP file contains online help documentation packaged as a Ziphelp archive. Each ZHELP file is a renamed .ZIP file that contains an .XML sitemap file and several .HTML help documents. Ziphelp viewers, such as EC Software eWriter Viewer, can load and display the help documentation that ZHELP files contain.
More Information
EC Software created the Ziphelp format to provide software developers with a new, cross-platform method for packaging and deploying online help documentation. Each Ziphelp documentation package, or ZHELP file, is a standard ZIP file that contains:
- A sitemap XML file, extending using custom Ziphelp tags and functionality
- Related HTML help documents
To create ZHELP files, developers primarily use EC Software Help+Manual. Developers can also use Embarcadero Delphi to create ZHELP files and integrate those files into Delphi applications.
How to open a ZHELP file
You can open a ZHELP file with EC Software eWriter Viewer (Windows, Mac), to view the help documentation the file contains.
If you want to extract and edit a ZHELP file's contents, you can rename the file to use the .ZIP extension and open it as you would any ZIP file.
