What is a YMI file?
A YMI file is an instrument specification used by Yach*PMS, an obscure chiptune music tracker. It contains settings that define how Yach*PMS plays tone and percussion notes. Yach*PMS users create and load YMI files in the program's Instrument Editor.
More Information
Yach*PMS is designed to emulate the MuzCell sound board. It was developed by shiru8bit, also known as Shiru, who has created many esoteric chiptune trackers.
Users who want to modify how Yach*PMS plays notes can do so using the program's Instrument Editor. After editing Yach*PMS's instrument settings, users can save those settings to a YMI file. They can then load the YMI file at a later time, to apply the settings it contains.
How to open a YMI file
You can open a YMI file with Yach*PMS (Windows, Linux). To do so:
- Open Yach*PMS and press F4 to open the Instrument Editor.
- Press F3.
- Navigate to and open your YMI file.
The instrument settings your YMI file contains will then appear and be applied in Yach*PMS.
