What is an SPL7 file?
An SPL7 file is a schematic diagram created by sPlan 7, a schematic editor for Windows. It contains a schematic circuit diagram, which includes the components of a circuit such as diodes, switches, transistors, connectors, and capacitors.
The SPL7 file is the main file associated with sPlan 7. When you create a diagram and save it by selecting File → Save, sPlan creates an SPL7 file to store the contents of the diagram. You can also to choose to save the diagram as a template by selecting File → Template... → Save as template. sPlan templates are also saved as SPL7 files.
If you come across an SPL7 file on your computer you can use sPlan 7 to open the file. Earlier sPlan programs will not open the SPL7 file since they do not support the format. You can also use sPlan Viewer, which is available for free and can be used to view schematic diagrams created by sPlan 4.0, 5.0, 6.0, and 7.0.
NOTE: SPL7 files replaced .SPL files with the release of sPlan 7.
