What is a SITES file?

A SITES file is a website design project created in iWeb, a web development program for novice developers. It contains webpage layouts, text, and graphics. SITES files can be published to a live website when complete, and they are similar to .SITES2 files.

More Information

As iWeb users create websites, those websites are stored in SITES files. iWeb saves SITES files to the /[user]/Library/Application Support/iWeb directory without prompting users for a save location.

NOTE: iWeb is part of Apple's iLife application suite.
