What is an SHED file?
A SHED file is a home screen layout created using Lawnchair 2, a home screen replacement app for Android. It contains data Lawnchair 2 uses to load and display a custom home screen. Users create SHED files from within Lawnchair 2, by opening the app's menu and selecting Backups → Create.
Lawnchair 2 is an Android app that enables users to customize their home screen. For example, users can utilize Lawnchair 2 to customize their Android widgets, or to add new Android home screen features to old devices.
If a Lawnchair 2 user wants to back up and/or share their custom home screen with another user, they can save the screen as a SHED file. SHED files are Zip-compressed files, which contain the .XML, .DB, and .PNG files used to display a Lawnchair 2 home screen.
