What is an SGTP file?
An SGTP file is a saved game created by Simon Tatham's Puzzles, a free puzzle game collection for Android. It contains data used to resume an in-process puzzle game. Typically, SGTP files are named for the game from which they were saved.
More Information
Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection is a collection of 40 puzzle games available for Windows, Mac, and Unix, as well as on the web. Developer Chris Boyle ported the collection to Android under the name Simon Tatham's Puzzles, so players can access the puzzles offline on Android smartphones and tablets.
While solving a puzzle in Simon Tatham's Puzzles, players can save their progress to an SGTP file. Each SGTP file is a plain text file that contains information about the puzzle being played and the moves a player has made.
To save your progress to an SGTP file while solving a puzzle:
- Select Game → Save....
- Name and save your SGTP file. By default, Simon Tatham's Puzzles assigns the name of the puzzle being played as the file's filename.
How to open an SGTP file
You can open an SGTP file with Simon Tatham's Puzzles (Android) to resume the saved game it contains:
- From the app's main menu, select Load.
- Navigate to and open your SGTP file.
You can also open an SGTP file in any text editor to view the data it contains.
