What is a SAFETEXT file?
A SAFETEXT file is a password-protected text document encrypted for security purposes by SafeText, a now-discontinued application for protecting text files. It stores the contents of a text document to ensure that only authorized users with the correct password can access its sensitive or private information.
More Information
SafeText was an application primarily used in the 1990s to create encrypted, password-protected text documents so that if a person attempts to access the file, they won’t be able to view its information without the correct password. However, as newer and more advanced encryption tools and methods developed, SafeText discontinued the software in the early 2000s, making the SAF format obsolete.
NOTE: SAFETEXT files may also be saved with the .saf extension (.SAF files).
How to open a SAFETEXT file
The only known program that can open SAFETEXT files is SafeText in Windows. However, the program is discontinued.
