An RSG file may also be a compressed archive included in a PopCap Games video game, such as Plants Vs. Zombies 2, Peggle 2, or Bejeweled Blitz. It contains a group of related game assets (images and audio files). RSG files are stored in .RSB archives.
More Information
A variety of PopCap Games video games store their game assets in RSB archives. Each RSB archive contains several RSG archives, which contain a related group of assets. For example, Plants Vs. Zombies 2's RSB archive contains an RSG archive named ZenGardenGroup. This RSG archive contains assets used in Plants Vs. Zombies 2's Zen Garden.
Most who play a PopCap Games video game will never encounter an RSG file. However, players who are interested in modding PopCap Games video games may wish to extract, modify, and repackage the assets that RSG files contain.
How to open an RSG file
Most players will never have to manually open an RSG file. PopCap Games video games automatically load the game assets RSG files contain as needed.
Modders interested in extracting and editing the assets RSG files contain can use the RSB unpacking tools available on the ErnestoAM Wiki. These tools include Taiji, PvZ2Tool, and QuickBMS. Modders can also use these tools to repackage edited assets within an RSG file.
