An RSB file may also be a compressed archive included in a PopCap Games video game, such as Plants vs. Zombies 2. It includes a game's assets (such as image and audio files) and configuration settings. Plants vs. Zombies 2 RSB files can be extracted and decompressed using player-created extraction tools.

More Information

The Chinese Android and iOS editions of Plants vs. Zombies 2 include RSB archives. These archives are used to store the game's textures, animations, level and world data, character properties, and other data. RSB archives are stored at the following locations within Plants vs. Zombies 2's .APK (Android) and .IPA (iOS) file:

  • Android: ~/assets/
  • iOS: ~/Payload/PvZ2.app/

While most players will never encounter an RSB file, players interested in modding Plants vs. Zombies 2 have created tools that allow them to extract and decompress the game's RSB files. These players can then examine and edit Plants vs. Zombies 2's assets and settings, before repackaging the RSB file and importing it back into their game.

How to open an RSB file

You can use the RSB unpacking tools available on the ErnestoAM Wiki, such as Taiji, PvZ2Tool, and QuickBMS, to extract and decompress an RSB archive included in Plants vs. Zombies 2. You can also use those tools to repackage your RSB file, after you've edited the files it contains.
