What is a ROI file?
An ROI file is a data file used by discontinued Actuate reporting software, such as Actuate Information Object Designer and Actuate iServer programs. It saves a snapshot of a report at a specific point in time in the proprietary Report Object Instance (ROI) format, including its data, formatting, and parameter values set when the software generated the report. When a user runs a report in the Actuate program, the software creates a temporary ROI file that stores the current state of the report and updates it automatically, allowing the user to view, analyze, and share the report without needing to regenerate it from the original data source.
More Information
Actuate software was prominent in the late 1990s and 2000s as a business intelligence (BI), enterprise reporting, and data analytics tool. Before being discontinued, large finance, healthcare, and government organizations commonly used Actuate software to generate interactive reports from various data sources, including databases, spreadsheets, and real-time business systems.
How to open a ROI file
You can open ROI files with Actuate software, including Actuate Information Object Designer. However, Actuate software is no longer developed.
