What is a PXPALETTE file?
A PXPALETTE file is a color palette created by the Pro version of Pixen, a pixel art editor for macOS developed by Furnace Creek Software. It stores a collection of colors that artists use to create consistent artwork across a project.
More Information
PXPALETTE files help artists manage color choices efficiently. Instead of manually selecting or recreating colors for each artwork or animation, users can save and load PXPALETTE files to maintain a consistent look. These palettes are especially useful for pixel art hobbyists, indie game developers, and designers working on game sprites, tilesets, or other assets that require a specific or limited color scheme.
NOTE: To create a PXPALETTE file with Pixen, select Palette → Export Document Palette. However, only the Pro version can export PXPALETTE files.
How to open a PXPALETTE file
You can open PXPALETTE files with Furnace Creek Software Pixen in macOS. However, only the Pro version can import PXPALETTE files. To open a PXPALETTE file with the Pro version of Pixen, select Palette → Install Palette.
