What is a PREF file?
Settings file used by various applications; often used as an application support file that contains program preferences such as program defaults or other user specified application preferences; uses the generic extension ".pref," which is short for "preferences."
Example programs that use PREF files include GTKRadiant (local.pref), Wings 3D, and Amazon's Kindle e-Reader software (reader.pref).
