What is a PME file?
A PME file is a pixel mesh file used by games developed with the Pixel Tales engine, including titles from Star Stable Entertainment, such as Star Stable Online. It contains 3D mesh data, which defines the shape and structure of characters, objects, or environment models in the game. Mesh data typically includes vertices, faces, and surface information that the game engine references to render 3D graphics during gameplay.

The PME format is proprietary and designed specifically for the Pixel Tales engine, storing data in a binary format optimized for performance and fast loading within the game. It is the successor of the Starshine Mesh (SME) format that Pixel Tales used for the Starshine Legacy games.
PME files often appear inside larger game archives (.CSA files), where they work alongside .PMT texture and animation files. The game engine reads these mesh files at runtime to display models correctly in the 3D world.
NOTE: Pixel Tales was a Swedish company founded in 2002, responsible for developing Star Stable Online. In 2015, Star Stable Entertainment bought Pixel Tales.
How to open a PME file
PME files are not meant to be opened. Instead, the game packaged with the files references the files when loading gameplay.
Some gamers may attempt to modify PME files. However, because these files are part of commercial game assets, extracting or modifying them may violate the game's terms of service.
