An NCD file may also be a DVD or CD disc image created by NTI (NewTech Infosystems) software, such as NTI CD & DVD-Maker or NTI Backup Now. It contains an exact copy of the data dumped from a CD or DVD, preserving the file structure, content, and layout of the original disc in a proprietary format. NTI software users commonly create NCD files when making backups, duplicating discs, or storing disc content digitally.

The NTI CD & DVD-Maker and NTI Backup Now programs provide disc burning, data backup, and media management features. They were common during the late 1990s and early-to-mid 2000s, when optical media, such as CDs and DVDs, were the primary means for data storage, sharing, and media distribution. However, NTI no longer develops these programs, making the format obsolete.

How to open an NCD file

You can open NCD files with several NTI applications, such as NTI Media Maker Express and Dragon Burn. Various third-party programs also support the format, including EZB Systems UltraISO and Smart Projects IsoBuster.
