What is an NCD file?
An NCD file stores disc artwork created by Nero CoverDesigner, a program for creating custom artwork for optical media, such as CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs. It contains the design's layout information, text, images, and graphics. NCD files may also store the dimensions and formatting required for printing directly onto discs using compatible printers.
More Information
Nero CoverDesigner allows casual users and professionals to create visually appealing packaging for media collections, including designing disc labels, case inserts, and booklets. Users can import images, add text, and utilize simple graphic editing tools to create personalized designs, which they can then save as NCD files to preserve their progress.
NOTE: Nero CoverDesigner was included with Nero Multimedia Suite (beginning with Nero 6.6) but is now also available as a standalone application.
How to open an NCD file
You can open NCD files with Nero CoverDesigner in Windows. To open the NCD file, select File → Open.

An NCD file may also be a DVD or CD disc image created by NTI (NewTech Infosystems) software, such as NTI CD & DVD-Maker or NTI Backup Now. It contains an exact copy of the data dumped from a CD or DVD, preserving the file structure, content, and layout of the original disc in a proprietary format. NTI software users commonly create NCD files when making backups, duplicating discs, or storing disc content digitally.
More Information
The NTI CD & DVD-Maker and NTI Backup Now programs provide disc burning, data backup, and media management features. They were common during the late 1990s and early-to-mid 2000s, when optical media, such as CDs and DVDs, were the primary means for data storage, sharing, and media distribution. However, NTI no longer develops these programs, making the format obsolete.
How to open an NCD file
You can open NCD files with several NTI applications, such as NTI Media Maker Express and Dragon Burn. Various third-party programs also support the format, including EZB Systems UltraISO and Smart Projects IsoBuster.
