What is an MSDVD file?

DVD project created with Windows DVD Maker; formatted in XML and contains tags that define the media content, DVD title, menu style, button names, and other information; may also be generated by third-party applications that access DVD Maker's encoding capabilities; does not contain actual media, only references to the locations of imported media on the computer.

Windows DVD Maker is a DVD production program included with Windows Vista Home Premium and Ultimate editions. It is a supplemental application to Windows Movie Maker.

NOTE: Microsoft Windows DVD Maker is no longer developed and is not supported by Windows 10.
