MAXScripts allow 3ds Max users to automate common and complex tasks. For example, if a user is applying repeated edits to a model, they may create a script and save it in an MS file, then run it when they want to apply the edits to a model.
How to create a MAXScript MS file
To create a new script with 3ds Max, select Main Menu → MAXScript → New Script. The Scripting Editor that opens allows you to edit and save your script. 3ds Max saves the script in the following directory by default:
\Autodesk\3ds Max [version]\Scripts
How to open an MS file
You can open MS files with Autodesk 3ds Max in Windows. To open an MS file to view and modify its commands, select Open Script in the MAXScript menu.
Additionally, to run an MS file in 3ds Max, select MAXScript in the main menu and click Run Script.
