What is a LOD file?
Game data file used by Heroes of Might and Magic III (HOMM3), a turn-based strategy game; stores 2D bitmap images for army units, terrain, buildings, and other objects; used for displaying game graphics and animating sprite graphics.

HOMM3 LOD files are commonly seen with the filenames H3bitmap.lod and H3sprite.lod.
NOTE: LOD files are also used by the Heroes Chronicles, a game similar to HOMM3 that was also released by 3DO. The 3DO company sold all Heroes of Might and Magic series products to Ubisoft. Loki Software released a ported Linux version of HOMM3.
