What is a GXT file?
File used by Grand Theft Auto (GTA), a game where players steal cars and complete missions; contains text that is displayed during gameplay; often included with GTA mods and may be translated into multiple languages.
GXT files are used in GTA 2 and later and there is one GXT file for each language. They are typically stored within the \text directory of a GTA installation.
You can modify GTA: San Andreas and GTA: 4 GXT files with the X GXT Editor and GTA: Vice City GXT files with the GTA: Vice City GXT Editor.

What is a GXT file?
A GXT file contains textual data in GXT format that describes one or more diagrams of Earth-orbiting satellite networks. It is typically imported and exported by Graphical Interference Management System (GIMS) users to share diagram data. GXT files also store metadata, which includes the GXT format version, name of the satellite network, the number of diagrams described in the GXT file, and the satellite nominal orbital longitude.
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) develops GIMS. The ITU Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) is one of three divisions in ITU that oversees international radio communication. One of the responsibilities of ITU-R is to manage orbiting satellites for radiocommunication systems to prevent radio system interference between different countries.
GXT files typically store information about one of the following types of diagrams:
- Space station antenna gain towards the geostationary orbit.
- Space station antenna service area outlines on the Earth’s surface.
- Space station antenna gain contours on the Earth’s surface.
To export a diagram in GIMS and create a GXT file, open a diagram, choose a diagram window, and select Diagram → Export to GXT File. To import a GXT file in GIMS, select Diagram → Import GXT file).
NOTE: You can find more information about the GXT format in the Radiocommunication Bureau Preface.
