What is an FTG file?
An FTG file is a configuration file used by Microsoft Help, a browser provided with early versions of Windows that enabled users to read helpful information about the system. It contains links to a group of WinHelp Full Text Search (.FTS) files, which store indexes that are used for searching through the text of help documents (.HLP files) for Windows programs or the Windows operating system.
FTG files are not meant to be manually opened by users. Instead, the files are used in the background of the Microsoft Help browser, which references the FTG files when a user searches the text of help documents.
