What is an FFM file?

Video and audio stream format used by FFmpeg, a tool used to encode video and audio; stores recorded video and audio streams, or feed, that is sent to the ffserver for publishing.

More Information

FFmpeg is a media framework that consists of a variety of components, which includes:

  • ffmpeg - Command-line tool used to convert audio and video formats. It can also convert live video and audio.
  • ffserver - HTTP and Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) server used to stream multimedia for live broadcasts.
  • ffprobe - Command-line tool used to show media information.
  • ffplay - Utility used to play media files.

You can use FFM files to replay video that was recorded at an earlier time, but the ffserver parameters must match the original parameters that were in place when the file was created.

An FFM file may also be a 3D model used by Candy Crush Saga or another King.com video game. It contains positioning, rigging, lighting, and texture application data used to show the model in-game.

More Information

King.com is the publisher of the Candy Crush Saga series of games, as well as the related Pet Rescue Saga and Farm Heroes Saga games. All these games are developed using King.com's Fiction Factory game engine. The 3D models these games use are saved as FFM, or Fiction Factory Model, files.

How to open an FFM file

King.com FFM files are not meant to be opened by players. However, modders have created tools that allow them to open and edit a game's FFM files. For example, you can import an FFM file into Autodesk 3ds Max (Windows) using a player-created import script (linked below).
