An FCE file may also be a 3D model used by Need for Speed 1-3 car racing games. It may contain the mesh for a car or the dashboard in the car, which defines the shape of the car or dashboard. FCE files are stored in .VIV archives, which are used by the game to load racing cars.
FCE files are not meant to be directly opened by Need for Speed users. However, some users who like to modify gameplay extract FCE files from VIV files in order to edit the appearance of cars and dashboards in the game. The NFS Wizard utility can be used to extract FCE files from VIV files and view and edit them.
Common FCE Filenames
car.fce - The file that contains the mesh for the car.
dash.fce - The file that contains the mesh for the dashboard in the car.
