What is a CZIP file?
A CZIP file is an archive encrypted in the proprietary CryptoZip (CZIP) format by ZipGenius, a free archive manager for Windows. It stores one or more Zip-compressed files encrypted with the CZIP, Blowfish 128-bit, Twofish, or Rijndael 128-bit methods and may be password-protected. ZipGenius users compress archives as CZIP files to share data with others securely.
The CZIP format supports various options for compressing archives, including Standard, Self-locking, and Self-erasing types. Furthermore, you can only extract self-locking and self-erasing archives with the correct passphrase (three incorrect passwords renders the file unrecoverable). You can also add your name or email address and choose the archive version when compressing the CZIP archive.
How to create a CZIP file with ZipGenius
To create a CZIP file, select Tools → Encrypt / decrypt archive. Depending on your chosen encryption method, you will encounter different prompts to create the CZIP file. For example, if you choose the Twofish method, you must enter a passphrase for securing the CZIP archive before creating it.
How to open a CZIP file
You can open a CZIP file with ZipGenius in Windows. To open a CZIP file, select File → Open.
