What is a CVDSYM file?
A CVDSYM file contains a set of symbols created by Canvas GFX Canvas X Draw, a technical illustration application. It stores vector graphic symbols that users can insert into their drawings, such as flowchart arrows and common shapes. CVDSYM files are different than .CSY files, which contain individual symbols.

ACD Systems originally developed Canvas X software, but it shifted development responsibilities to Canvas GFX In 2017. Canvas X Draw provides various drawing tools, including symbols that you can add to your drawings to enhance them.
You can also create custom symbol sets with Canvas X Draw, share them with other users, and import them. Or, you can download symbol sets via the Symbol Library palette in Canvas X Draw.
How to open a CVDSYM file
You can open a CVDSYM file with Canvas GFX Canvas X Draw in Windows and macOS. There are several ways to open a CVDSYM file with Canvas X Draw.
For example, you can select Window → Palettes → Flowchart, then select Load Flowchart Symbols to load a symbol set in the flowchart palette.
You can also place the CVDSYM file in the /Canvas X Draw/My Symbols folder, open the Symbol Library palette, and select Refresh.
