What is a CSOR file?
A CSOR file is an OTDR trace file used by VIAVI SmartOTDR fiber-optic testing equipment to store fiber-optic test results in a proprietary format. It stores the trace, event table, and test settings from a fiber-optic measurement recorded by an optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR). Fiber-optic installers and technicians use CSOR files to review measurements, inspect fiber links, and troubleshoot problems in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) networks.
More Information
An OTDR sends light pulses through a fiber-optic cable and measures the returning light to evaluate the cable. The measurements can reveal the fiber's length and identify events such as connectors, splices, bends, and breaks.
NOTE: CSOR files are similar to .SOR files (which store individual OTDR traces) and .MSOR files (which can store multiple OTDR traces in a single file). However, CSOR files use a proprietary VIAVI format designed for FTTH testing and can contain recombined OTDR traces and raw measurement data.
How to open a CSOR file
You can open CSOR files with VIAVI FiberTrace 2 in Windows and OTDR Master, a browser-based OTDR viewer.
