What is a CSI file?
A CSI file is a source code file used by ContentServ, a web-based enterprise content management system (CMS). It contains code used by ContentServ applications and projects and can be referenced by other project files, including functions, variables, and other objects, as part of the system's application logic.
More Information
Developers can use CSI files to organize reusable code and separate common functionality from other parts of a ContentServ project. This modular approach makes projects easier to maintain by storing related code in separate files rather than repeating it throughout the project.
NOTE: CSI files are associated with the older ContentServ CS EMMS Suite and are uncommon today. The current ContentServ platform is part of Centric Software and does not support the format.
How to open a CSI file
CSI files are referenced by older versions of ContentServ CS EMMS Suite as part of a ContentServ project rather than opened as standalone documents. The software requires an Apache Web Server to use CSI files.
Since CSI files contain source code, you can also open and edit them with a text editor or source code editor, such as Microsoft Visual Studio Code or Notepad++. These editors allow you to view and modify the underlying code but do not provide the ContentServ-specific functionality needed to use the files within a ContentServ project.
