What is a C4D file?
A C4D file is a three-dimensional model created with Cinema 4D, a professional 3D modeling and animation program. It contains a scene, which consists of one or more objects with position, rotation, pivot points, meshes, and animation information. C4D files can be exported to image-editing programs, such as Photoshop and Illustrator, as well as video-editing programs, like After Effects and Final Cut Pro.
Cinema 4D comes with a large variety of tools to create realistic images and graphics for movies, games, architectural design, and motion graphics. The program features a variety of tools, including a sculpting toolset for shaping your creations and a motion tracker that combines 3D elements and live footage. Cinema 4D also comes with material and object libraries that are full of preset objects, animations, and materials that can be accessed through the Content Browser.
The C4D file is the main file type associated with Cinema 4D. When you save your model, the C4D file is created by Cinema 4D to store all of the information about the model. The C4D file can be reopened by Cinema 4D and is supported by other graphics programs such as Adobe After Effects and Unity Technologies Unity. You can import C4D files in After Effects by selecting File → Import. To import C4D files in Unity, simply place the C4D file in your project's "Assets" folder and the file will be imported automatically and appear in the Project View. You can then drag it into the Scene View.
NOTE: The term "C4D" is also used as an abbreviation for the program itself. Cinema 4D is available in English, German, Spanish, French, and other languages.
