What is a BS7 file?
A BS7 file is a skin created by Windows 7 Boot Updater, a third-party program used to edit the appearance of Windows 7's boot screen. It contains setting used to adjust the boot screen's background, images, and animations. BS7 files may also include replacement text for the boot screen's Starting Windows and © Microsoft Corporation messages.
In Windows 7 Boot Updater, users can change the animation and messages that appear on Windows 7's boot screen. They can edit the messages' text, position, font color, and font size. Users can then save their custom boot screen settings as a Boot Updater skin, or BS7 file.
Whenever a user creates a new Boot Updater skin, Boot Updater automatically saves the user's previous skin as a BS7 file. When a user creates their first custom BS7 skin, Boot Updater automatically backs up Windows 7's default boot skin.
NOTE: Windows 7 Boot Updater does not work on newer versions of Windows.
How to open a BS7 file
You can open a BS7 file in Windows 7 Boot Updater (Windows). To do so, select File → Load boot skin. You can then edit the settings your BS7 file contains, before applying them by clicking the Apply button.
