A BPK file may also be a backup of an Android app installed in the Windows version of BlueStacks, an Android emulator. It is used to migrate an app and all its associated data from one version of BlueStacks to another. For example, you can use a BPK file to migrate an app and its data from BlueStacks 4 to BlueStacks 5.
More Information
The BlueStacks emulator allows you to install and use Android apps on Windows PCs. If you want to upgrade from an old version of BlueStacks to a newer version, you can migrate your apps to the newer version using the BlueStacks AppData Migration Tool (after enabling Android debug bridge in BlueStacks' settings). Doing so saves a copy of your apps and their associated data as a set of BPK files.
How to open a BPK file
To migrate the app and app data a BPK file contains to a different version of BlueStacks for Windows:
- Enable Android debug bridge in BlueStacks' settings and note your four-digit port number.
- Open the BlueStacks AppData Migration Tool and select Restore app data to BlueStacks.
- Enter your four-digit port number in the ADB port field and select Next.
- Browse to and select your BPK file.
- Select Restore.
