What is a BBSETTINGS file?
A BBSETTINGS file is a record of a user's Blockbench settings. It contains JSON data that Blockbench uses to retrieve and apply the user's settings. Users can save their current settings as a BBSETTINGS file from Blockbench's Settings window.
Blockbench is a 3D model editor used primarily to create and edit block-based Minecraft models. The program is available as a free download for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It is also available on the web at web.blockbench.net.
Users who want to customize Blockbench's settings can do so using the program's Settings window (opened by selecting File → Preferences... → Settings...). In the Settings window, users can alter Blockbench's General, Interface, Preview, Edit, Grid, Snapping, Paint, Defaults, Dialogs, Application, and Export settings.
How do I save my Blockbench settings as a BBSETTINGS file?
Users can export their current Blockbench settings as a BBSETTINGS file by:
- Selecting File → Preferences... → Settings... to open the Settings window.
- Selecting Export Settings.
- Naming and saving their current settings as a BBSETTINGS file.
For example, a user may want to save their current settings as a BBSETTINGS file so they can import the settings into another instance of Blockbench.
How to open a BBSETTINGS file
To apply the settings a BBSETTINGS file contains in Blockbench (cross-platform):
- Select File → Preferences... → Settings....
