A BBTHEME file is a skin created for use with Blockbench, an open-source 3D model editor. It contains JSON data that alters how Blockbench's UI appears. Blockbench allows users to create their own and import others' BBTHEME files, using features found in the program's Theme window.

Many Minecraft modders use Blockbench to create and edit custom Minecraft models. It is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux, as well as on the web via a browser-based version.

Blockbench includes several default themes, which control how the program looks. For example, themes control the colors of Blockbench's UI and the fonts the program uses.

Users who are unsatisfied with Blockbench's default themes can create their own, using tools available in Blockbench's Theme window (opened by selecting File → Preferences... → Theme... from the program's menu bar). Users can then export their custom themes as BBTHEME files, to use across Blockbench versions or share with other Blockbench users.

How do I export a Blockbench theme as a BBTHEME file?

To export your current Blockbench theme as a BBTHEME file:

Select File → Preferences... → Theme....
In the Theme window, select Export Theme.
Name and save your theme as a BBTHEME file.

To use a BBTHEME file as a Blockbench (cross-platform) theme:

Open Blockbench.
Select File → Preferences... → Theme....
In the Theme window, select Import Theme.
Navigate to and open your BBTHEME file.

Blockbench will then apply the settings your BBTHEME file contains.

Advanced users can edit a BBTHEME file's data directly by opening the file in Microsoft Notepad|microsoft/notepad} (Windows), Apple TextEdit (Mac), or any other text or source code editor.
