A VIB file is an installation bundle used by VMware vSphere. It contains a software package that can be installed on a host computer as part of an ESXi image. IT administrators manage and install VIBS using various VMware-provided tools.

VMWare vSphere is a cloud computing virtualization platform that allows businesses and other organizations to create, run, and manage many virtual machines. VSphere includes a hypervisor component called ESXi, which allows administrators to, among other things, install image profiles on host computers.
Each ESXi image profile is comprised of multiple VIB files. These files contain applications, drivers, updates, and patches. Each VIB file is comprised of an archive that contains the file's actual software package, an .XML file that describes the VIB file's contents, and an electronic signature file that denotes the VIB file's VMware certification level.
注: Multiple related VIB files are often packaged together within software bundles or depots.
如何打开 VIB 文件
VIB files are not meant to be opened. To install a VIB file on an ESXi host (or remove a VIB file from a host), you can use vSphere Update Manager (VUM) or vSphere's ESXCLI command. To add a VIB file to an ESXi image, use vSphere's ESXi Image Builder CLI.
