How to show hidden files in Windows 11

Windows 11 users may hide files for various purposes, such as keeping confidential files secret or reducing clutter in folders. To view hidden files:

  1. Click the folder icon in the Task Bar to open File Explorer. You can also open any folder or type the Windows key shortcut (Win+E) to open File Explorer.
  2. Click View in the ribbon, then select Show → Hidden items.
  3. Windows will now show hidden files.
If you no longer want to show hidden files, select View → Show, then uncheck Hidden items.
