How to clear File Explorer history (recent files) in Windows 11

Windows 11 keeps track of files you open and displays them in the "Recent Files" view. You can clear this list by following the steps below.

1. In File Explorer, click the three dots menu (...).
2. Select Options.
3. In the Folder Options window, click Clear.
4. Click OK or Cancel to close the window.

Your Recent Files list is now empty.
