Software Overview
Aegisub is an open source, cross-platform program used to create and edit subtitles. It is a successor to SubStation Alpha and Sabbu.
The application natively supports the Advanced SubStation Alpha format, as well as the Sub Station Alpha Subtitle and SubRip Subtitle formats. Aegisub provides a variety of features that help you time, edit, style, translate, typeset, and quality check subtitles for audio and video. The program is available in a variety of languages including English, Chinese, Spanish, Japanese, German, and Russian. You can also use it for timing karaoke subtitles and giving them effects.
The subtitle editor is a favorite among "fansubbers," which are fans that create unofficial subtitles for visual media, most often anime. It provides helpful editing and styling tools and can even be used to create karaoke subtitles. There aren't many subtitle editors available, but even if there were, Aegisub would still be at the top of the list.
