Wat is een FDMDOWNLOAD-bestand?
An FDMDOWNLOAD file is a partially downloaded file created by version 5 and later of Free Download Manager, an Internet download management utility. It stores the contents of a file as it is being received by Free Download Manager and uses the .fdmdownload extension to mark the download as incomplete until it finishes, at which point the .fdmdownload extension is removed. FDMDOWNLOAD files are similar to .CRDOWNLOAD and .TORCHDOWNLOAD files, which are used by various web browsers.

You will only encounter an FDMDOWNLOAD file if you use Free Download Manager to download files over the Internet. When you start downloading a file, Free Download Manager creates a placeholder FDMDOWNLOAD file in your computer's Downloads folder. The file typically has the .fdmdownload extension appended to the download's actual filename.
When your download finishes, Free Download Manager will replace its FDMDOWNLOAD file with your actual downloaded file. You will see an FDMDOWNLOAD file in your Downloads folder only when a file is currently downloading or when a download was interrupted before completion (e.g. you closed Free Download Manager, paused the download, or your Internet went out).
OPMERKING: FDMDOWNLOAD files may appear with incorrectly-listed file sizes. For example, an FDMDOWNLOAD file that contains only 2GB of data may be listed with a file size of 4GB, because that is the expected file size of the yet-to-be-completed download.

In most cases, you should not need to open an FDMDOWNLOAD file. Instead, you should either wait for your download to finish or, if your download was interrupted, resume your download. Then, Free Download Manager will replace its FDMDOWNLOAD file with the file you began downloading.
If your download was interrupted and you can't resume it, you might be able to recover a portion of the file you intended to download. To do so, delete the .fdmdownload extension from your FDMDOWNLOAD file and then attempt to open the file in an appropriate program. For example, if you begin downloading a video file, delete the .fdmdownload extension and then attempt to play the file in your media player. Your media player should play as much of the video as you'd managed to download.
