A BRF file is a game data archive used by TaleWorlds Entertainment Mount & Blade and its expansion, Mount & Blade: Warband. It contains 3D models and other assets used to show in-game characters and items. BRF files can be opened and edited in OpenBRF, a third-party BRF-editing program.

Mount & Blade is a single-player medieval role-playing game that allows players to create a custom character and control a fiefdom in the land of Calradia. Many of the game's resources, including character and object meshes, animations, skeletons, and textures, are saved in BRF files.

For the most part, Mount & Blade players will never have to access or open the game's BRF files. However, those who want to change the appearance of Mount & Blade's items and characters may want to extract and edit the resources that BRF files contain.

Mount & Blade modders can open a BRF file in OpenBRF (Windows). OpenBRF allows users to preview, import, and export a variety of Mount & Blade game assets, including meshes, animations, skeletons, materials, textures, and collision bodies. It also allows users to perform some edits on those assets.

A BRF file is a mission briefing used by Star Wars: X-Wing. It contains a video presentation shown before an accompanying X-Wing mission. Each BRF file is linked with a specific mission.

Star Wars: X-Wing is LucasArts' first Star Wars space combat simulation game. It was developed by Totally Games and released in 1993. In X-Wing, players assume the role of a Rebel pilot conducting missions using an X-Wing and other starfighters.

Before each mission, players are shown a briefing that describes the mission and its objectives. These briefings are saved in XMB files, found in the game's MISSION directory. While players are not meant to open or modify XMB files, X-Wing modders have created tools that allow them to modify the animations, text, and maps that XMB files contain, to correspond with custom missions.

You can open and modify an XMB file using X-Wing Mission Builder, a custom mission creation tool created by Star Wars: X-Wing players. To do so, select File → Open from the program's menu bar (or push F3). Then, navigate to and open your XMB file.
